I believe that parents should not be held responsible for their children’s actions. However, I do believe that parents are the ones that set the example to their children. When children are small, they adjust to the way they are raised; their habits are adapted from living with their parents. Parents are responsible for taking care of their children, and raising them, but they should not be held responsible for their children’s mistakes. Parents are not the only ones who influence a kid’s life. Their actions are also done by being influenced by their peers. If the child decides to do drugs, or to commit a crime, the parent should not have to serve their jail time. A parent is only supposed to teach their child good morals. Parents are to make clear the good from the wrong, and teach them to simply be a good person. When a child is young, it follows the footsteps of the parent, because a child is not exposed to the reality of life, and the parent’s actions is all that the child has seen. As the child gets older, no one is accountable for the child’s actions except for the child itself. Part of growing up is learning to make your own choices and to accept mistakes. No matter if you hang out with the wrong crowd, you are your own choice maker. I believe that if you have the guts to do something that you know is completely stupid, you should be ‘man’ enough to own up to it.
